July 2012 Morning Glory Study Plan

Enhancing what she is learning at Church:

Primary lesson manual

Korihor the Anti-Christ:To help the children understand that by following Jesus Christ they can avoid being deceived by Satan.
The Zoramites and the Rameumptum:To teach the children to worship Heavenly Father in humility and sincerity.
Alma Teaches about Faith: To teach the children that the word of God, when nourished by faith, will grow in our hearts into a testimony of Jesus Christ.
Alma Counsels His Sons Helaman and Shiblon: To teach the children that the scriptures were given to us as a source of joy in this life and as a guide for us to return to Heavenly Father and gain eternal life.
Alma Counsels His Son Corianton: To help the children understand that there are good and bad consequences depending on our choices.

While doing morning or evening tasks, I can turn on the audio version of these lessons (since Morning Glory enjoyed me doing that last month for my own study and she joined in) and try to see what MG enjoys particularly from the lesson and discuss how her teacher taught the lesson at church the past week.

Songs :
Review Nephi's Courage, Choose the Right, and The Wise Man and the Foolish Man. invite her to help me teach Lady Slipper these songs and review it ourselves through musical concepts and activities ( keeping beat in one hand while saying the words in rhythm, color tone bells, playing the songs on the piano, looking for particular intervals within the songs, listening to the mp3 of the songs, etc)  role playing the stories and principles taught in the songs, coming up with new actions for the words, singing them at bedtime and while working, etc.

Primary Scriptures:

1 Nephi 3:16 "Wherefore let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord"
Compose a simple song we can share with Lady Slipper during her music study time.

Continue to review Acts 2:38 and 1 Nephi 3:7 songs we composed previously.

My Goals with my Morning study time:

special:
Encourage MG in her own personal goal to read a verse which goes with her scripture sticker collection each morning and place a new sticker in the appropriate verse.
Review: 1 Nephi 3:7; 1 Nephi 19:23, 2 Nephi 2:25, 2 Nephi 2:27 Using the scripture matery memory app, other online activities, the songs we composed before for each scripture, hand clap games, etc.

Prophet: Joseph F. Smith

At least on Sundays and Wednesdays: read "The Illustrated story of  President Joseph F. Smith" by Della Mae Rasmussen and "The Lord Needed a Prophet" By Susan Arrington Madsen pages 75-103. If we read daily, three pages each day will suffice.  If only on Sundays and Wednesdays, then we will need to read 11 pages each study session.

Print out and prepare the prophet and fact cards for Prophet Memory Game

History:

"If You Lived in the Time of Jesus of Nazareth" by Peter Conolly
Read one page each morning (when Morning Glory is here) and study the maps and history details on each page.
