October
  • Review last month by reading the Tiny Seed book by Eric Carle and learn the songs "Faith," and "Little Seeds Lie Fast Asleep" while doing actions which depict a tiny seed growing.
  • Focus on learning how to Listen for Truth by learning songs about listening, listening to General Conference, and Kindermusik listening activities. Also I will try to model good listening by paying attention without talking.
  • We will learn the songs: "Listen, Listen," and "If I Listen With My Heart," (by Sally Deford)
  • We will review the concepts learned at nursery by doing activities together from the nursery manual: Joseph Smith Saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon Teaches Me about Jesus Christ . I will work to notice and point out how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ bless our lives and how they speak to us as we read our family scriture study.
  • We will listen together to the Scripture Stories from the Book of Mormon (Mormon Channel) (episodes 10-13) while having breakfast or while working during the day.
  • We will watch together The Living Scriptures Book of Mormon Stories about Abinadi on one morning.
  • I will continue to notice and praise your efforts when you are happy or reverent at appropriate times, or obey by pointing out that "you are obeying like Nephi and like Jesus." I will also point out other characteristics you have that are like Jesus and Like Nephi, being soft and gentle, sharing, giving hugs and kisses . . .
  • Whenever possible I will also include you in Morning Glory's Study, my study and family study by letting you listen and participate as you want to.

    Scripture Mastery:
    1 Nephi 3:7

I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded

    Plan:
    •  I will use Curwen Handsigns and Kodally level 1 music principles to help Morning Glory compose a song to teach to her little sister.  I will try to sing the song and do the hand motions of the new composition at least once each morning with Lady Slipper.
    • Along with this scripture I will teach the concept of obedience in two ways: one by daily singing the song Nephi's Courage and two by noticing whenever Lady Slipper obeys quickly and say, "you obeyed just like Jesus did and just like Nephi!"
