Morning Glory Study

Morning Glory Study Plan

Important Note: Morning Glory is old enough to choose scripture study herself. It is a blessing that she continues to want to come to get me to "come do scriptures with me , Mom" each morning. These plans should always be up for change as they are only here to help my Morning Glory learn to love the scriptures. When she has a different idea of what to study, it is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of. I am simply glad to be prepared with something each day in case there is not a particular direction she is wanting to go herself with her own personal study.

On Mondays, While doing morning or evening tasks, I can turn on the audio version of these lessons (since Morning Glory enjoyed me doing that last month for my own study and she joined in) and try to see what MG enjoys particularly from the lesson and discuss how her teacher taught the lesson at church the past week.

My Goals with my Morning study time:
Personal October focus: Listen for Truth
activity ideas, Use songs about listening, use Lady Slipper's kindermusik listening activities, explain how the ability to hear is much different that listening, be an example by modeling good listening. Especially make plans together as a famiy as to how we can listen well to General Conference and then show we heard by making specific goals to do what the prophets counseled us to do.
Review: 1 Nephi 3:7; 1 Nephi 19:23, 2 Nephi 2:25, 2 Nephi 2:27, 2 Nephi 9:28-29 ,

Learn: 2 Nephi 28:7-9 by having Angelisa pick out the most important parts and compose a Kodaly level 1 song in solfege to help teach to Lady Slipper. (we did not succeed in our goal to do this scripture last month so we will repeat and try again for October)

Prophet: George Albert Smith (we did not quite finish this prophet last month)

Teaching ideas: At least on Sundays and Tuesdays: read "The Illustrated story of President George Albert Smith" by Della Mae Rasmussen and "The Lord Needed a Prophet" By Susan Arrington Madsen pages 119-138. If we read daily, three pages each day will suffice. If only on Sundays and Tuesdays, then we will need to read 11 pages each study session. Watch the Living Scriptures DVD about this prophet.
Point out that this is the prophet all the adults have been studying about all this year.

May

Enhancing what she is learning at Church:
Alma the Younger and the Sons of Mosiah Repent
Alma and Amulek’s Mission to Ammonihah
Alma and Amulek in Prison
Daddy has already planned to study these scripture stories during family night time study.

Song: "When I am Baptized" Sing this song for her at bedtime when singing to Lady Slipper.

Primary Scripture: Acts 2:38 Help her compose a Kodaly Level 1 song a little bit each morning.

My Goals with my Morning study time:
Scripture Mastery: 1 Nephi 3:7
She can help compose a song for the tiny portion of this scripture that we are teaching Lady Slipper, as well as review the complete scripture to see if she still has it memorized herself. That should happen easily by simply asking her to do the scripture song she composes with her sister once each morning and then ask her to recite the whole thing as the "advanced version"

Prophet:
We will also continue our study of the Prophets by reading a few pages each day from books about Lorenzo Snow.
