You are out testing your wings this week on your turn for a special vacation with your grandparents (they do this one on one time with each of the grandchildren who are old enough). We usually do some form of scripture study, as well as other family traditions (such as reading a chapter of a book at bedtime, praying, Family Home Evening etc) over the phone somehow when a family member is apart from the rest of the family. The morning before you were to leave we had a special morning scripture study time which included a discussion on how you would like to do your personal scripture study time when you are gone. I am happy you chose that family study can be like usual over the phone, but that you will try to do your own personal study.
I pray you will use this special time of increased freedom and personal accountability to continue to choose to study the scriptures daily on your own. If you do, you will be embarking on an even greater journey into the wealth of knowledge in that treasure chest of scripture study. Remember the "Parable of the Princesses" (by Jenny Philips) we used to listen to together? I love the part about the king giving each of his daughters a special book from him before sending them to build their own castles. If each of them remember to read the book each day, they would succeed in their missions and be able to see their father again. I know that book represents the scriptures and the Father in the story represents our Father in Heaven. He loves you as his daughter and has given you that precious gift of many ways to access the scriptures. I am so proud of you for the many ways you choose to study them and hope you will do so all of your life.
I Love you!
Love,
Mom
