Lemon Armor

Morning Glory,

Dad asked you to do the lesson for Family Home Evening tonight.  You really wanted to do the object lesson you read about yesterday in the New Era article: Citrus Warriors (September 2013), but we didn't have any oranges.  Dad didn't feel like going to the grocery store as part of Family Night but he suggested we could try a peach since he thought it might still sink if we peeled it AND took out the pit.  It was a fun science experiment but didn't really work for the lesson since when we took off the "armor" (the peel) it still floated in the "troubled world" (water in a pitcher).  It still floated even without the pit too. Then I remembered that we did have two lemons in the fridge and so the lemon warrior did sink after his "armor" was taken off.

You taught a great lesson. You thought of things that the "lemon" did wrong as you cut into the armor.  You taught how repentance helps us put the armor back on and you were also careful to make sure Lady Slipper understood that we weren't really talking about lemon peels, but about how we can make good choices like pray and study scriptures  to keep the armor of God on.

Thank you for the wonderful lesson!!!  I was also very impressed with your patience in letting other family members help and give suggestions (even the ones that didn't work so well) in trying to help the lesson be a success.  It was a really wonderful memory :)

I love being your Mom!!

Love,

Me
